Ohio Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award to be presented

The Ohio Chamber of Commerce announce that it will again award $25,000 to an outstanding up-and-coming Ohio company with the Ohio Chamber Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award at its 2013 Annual Meeting and Legislative Reception on April 10. The premise of the award is still the same – to recognize and promote entrepreneurship in Ohio.

Ropp Triplett, Bluffton community leader, BCE board member, memorial service Nov. 25

Community leader William Ropp Triplett, 92, of Bluffton, died Nov. 10, 2012, of natural causes. 

Mr. Triplett leaves behind a legacy of leadership and creativity that blessed his family, friends and community.  He was instrumental in Bluffton’s recreational venues, helping small businesses succeed and his innovative Christmas displays.  He also was dedicated to the associates of the family business, The Triplett Corporation, Bluffton.

Business Plan Competition Winners Announced

Eric Barger of Barger Tech Ltd. is the winner of a $5,000 first-place prize in the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) 2012 Business Plan Competition, according to Denise Durenberger, BCE executive director. The Forest-based business was one of 9 businesses that entered the competition, which included five seminars taught by Kathy Keller of the SBDC at Rhodes State College.

"Buy Now" discount for Auction Tickets

Save the date for the 2012 Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs Art Auction: Saturday, October 27. The auction will raise funds for the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE), a non-profit business incubator.

The BCE is offering a “Buy Now” discount. Purchase tickets by June 15 to save $25 on a table for eight. After this date, tables are $300 and individual tickets are $50. The event, including an elegant dinner, will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Centre at Bluffton. To purchase tickets, call 419 358-6400 or email info@blufftonentrepreneurs.com.

Dates and Directions for Business Plan Competition

Don't miss the start of the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs 2012 Business Plan Competition. An introductory session will be held Friday, April 13, at 8:45 am, at the Bluffton Town Hall.

The next class will take place at 6:00 pm on April 17 at Bluffton University's Centennial Hall. We recommend parking in the Sauder Gallery lot on Spring St. because of the construction currently being done on campus. The map below shows these locations.

2012 Business Plan Competition to Award $6,000

A business plan competition awarding $6,000 in cash prizes will be conducted by the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE), according to Denise Durenberger, executive director of the business incubator.

First place will earn $5000 in startup costs. Second place will receive $1000. Client memberships from the BCE will be awarded to the top three contestants. The financial awards are being underwritten by Reichenbach & Steiner CPAs and Sielschott, Walsh, Keifer & Regula CPAs.

Intellectual Property Workshop with Jake Ward

Wish you knew more about the legal issues related to intellectual property, such as patents, licensing, and trademarks?

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will co-host a free seminar focusing on intellectual property on February 10. Jake Ward, attorney with the firm of Fraser, Clemens, Martin & Miller LLC, Perrysburg, will address topics including intellectual property and technology law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, technology transfer, intellectual property management and infringement issues.

Megan Neal joins BCE as Intern

The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs welcomes Megan Neal, a Bluffton University business administration major, as a new intern. She will be working for our business incubator from January to April 2012.

Megan is originally from Arlington, Ohio and graduated from Arlington High School in 2008. She is a senior at Bluffton University and will graduate this May. She is working on a Management Concentration and a Youth Ministry Minor. Her work experience includes a job in the Admissions Office as a data intern.

Photography Letter Art Joins BCE

The BCE's newest client is Tracy Branan of Photography Letter Art. Branan creates one-of-a-kind photographic montages that feature "found" letters combined into a word or phrase. Her customized products have unique qualities, making them fun, sentimental, and
inspiring.

Photography Letter Art allows Branan to connect with customers personally. She travels extensively to take photographs in urban, rural, and natural settings, so that she can provide a wide range of image choices. Customers can also provide letter photos of their own.
